I met with Steve, the owner of the company, and we went over the job and they started in late March. The job consisted of removing the old shingles on the garage (1 layer) and main residence (2 layers) and rebuild the NW corner fascia and soffit, as well as, new oversized gutters and downspouts and new roof. 17 Squares total. The estimate was not the lowest of the companies that I had met with but it wasn’t the highest either. The contract is half the money up front and then the rest due on completion of the project and that is pretty standard for the industry. They spread tarps out on the ground to catch as much of the debris as possible during tear off. An hour into the job the foreman found damaged wood on the roof of the garage and let me know that it would need to be replaced. They do not paint the replaced/rebuilt wood. The gutters were installed a few days after the roof and they look really good. The cleanup was good. I found pieces of cut edging metal and a few nails around the house, driveway, and yard but that's expected. All in all, the roof is done and looks good. Aaby did put an extra metal edging around the garage where it had none before and that is a plus. My garage is dry now and I can store things in it again. They also put extra ice and water membrane on the entire back porch roof and extended that up the transition to the peak an extra 36 inches; that will prevent water damage on the back screened-in porch. Upon request, they also put a few diverters on the roof to keep the rain from flowing onto the back porch from the overhangs that are near it. Steve was very accessible throughout the process and is a really nice guy. The house is done and my mind is at ease throughout the next decade in this house. Owens Corning lifetime warranty on the shingles and 10 year labor warranty from Aaby Construction. I've included pictures before and after. This is an edit as of September 3, 2021 the job is completed to my satisfaction. Steve continued to fix the things that I was not 100% satisfied with and said he isn't happy until I am happy with the job. I am giving Aaby 5 stars as an edit because they really try to do everything they can to make you happy. I was refunded some money on the job for lumber/paint and also the soffit was wrapped in aluminum and caulked instead of the exposed press-board that was used originally on the repair. I needed a new roof, gutters and downspouts. I contacted several roofing companies to my dissatisfaction.  I went online and read about Aaby  Construction and gave them a call. That was the best move I could have ever made. The owner responded quickly on the phone and professionally in person to do an inspection. He explained everything to us, made suggestions and gave me a quote. When I accepted, he worked with the insurance company and their adjuster, brought us samples of roofing tiles and set up work dates. We didn't have to do anything except pick out the color of tiles that we wanted. We picked out a color that we thought would match our home, but he brought a different color to our attention. He said that he felt, through his experience, this other tile would match better with the color of our home, but it was our choice. We are 1000 percent satisfied with the color he suggested and workmanship. His crew replaced our roof, gutters and downspouts. When they left there was nothing for us to do. They cleaned up everything as they worked. I really liked the fact that there was a supervisor on site the entire time the crew worked and wow did they every work hard. I can go on and on, but in closing I would like to thank Steve for a very professional job, workmanship and relationship. I'm sitting in my great room watching the leaves blow off of our gutters instead of in them. I want to start this review off by saying that I have never written a review online before but feel so compelled to do so because of the amount of professionalism and high quality service that was on display throughout the entire process of having our roof and gutters replaced. This crew went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with the final results. Steve took care of all of the paperwork and made our lives much easier by doing so. He even found several things that our insurance company missed on their initial quote that he was able to get covered. He is very personable and made sure he communicated each step with us. This company is precise and makes sure they get the job done right. I have heard horror stories about other contractors and how they handle their business so we were a bit timid when choosing the contractor we wanted to hire. We're now making future plans to have Aaby do our siding as well. Steve and his crew did an exceptional job of replacing our roof, facia, gutters, and down spouts due to the April 7 hail storm damage. My wife and I are so happy working with Steve. Steve took the time to ensure all of our questions were answered, and that we made the right decision on the new shingle. He brought over samples, showed us roofs to review, verified roofs we texted to him for the type of shingle using the Owens-corning matching web tool. Steve worked extremely well with our insurance company. Excellent service! We have had two heavy storms including the hurricane like storm recently with no issues at all! Aaby Construction did our siding, gutters, downspouts, soffit, facia and even installed a new sliding door for us. They did a great job! Steve, the owner was very responsive and addressed any and all concerns that we had and made sure that we were happy with all of the work. I watched Aaby Construction replace my neighbors roof last year.  I was so impressed by the way the crew worked and the results I saw, that I contacted them to run an estimate for me.  The entire process from start to finish was top notch.  Steve was extremely up front and honest with me.  He took all the time that I wanted to answer my questions.  He followed up with me and was always there to answer my phone call or text.  The crew followed through with exactly what Steve promised.  I had a different local company come out to our old home and didn't get nearly the satisfaction or professionalism I did with Aaby Construction.  I have recommended Aaby to my friends!  Love my roof! For anyone who is looking for a replacement roof either through an insurance claim or not, Aaby Construction is absolutely the only company I would recommend if you want a roofing contractor who is always responsive to answering your calls, on time, on budget etc.. I have been extremely pleased with the level of quality and attention to detail Steve and his guys put into their work. Our roof was scheduled to be completed in one day, however the difficulty of tear off by the previous contractor made that impossible to accomplish. Now they could have taken short cuts like we’ve seen many in our neighborhood do, but they did the tediously difficult work of making sure that 98 percent of the nails were removed before going on. This allowed them a fresh start to the next day for the actual roofing. I would put the quality of the work done up against anyone in Rockford. If anyone wants to review their work I would be happy to have you come by and see for yourself. Best of Rockford!  Thanks Steve and crew!!!
